Gay Ward

Gay Ward, age 73, passed away May 16, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1952 to the late Robert and Bonnie Ward. In addition to her parents, Gay was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Roger Lambert, and siblings, Shirley Neatherly, Kathy Morefield, and Robert Ward.

Gay was a truly joyful and warm-hearted soul, whose fun-loving and outgoing nature touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a cherished friend to all, always bringing light and laughter wherever she went. A devoted fan of the University of Tennessee, Gay embraced her passions with enthusiasm. To her family, she was the beloved “cool aunt,” known for her generous spirit and the unforgettable pool parties she threw for the children. Her vibrant presence and kind heart will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

Those left to cherish her memories include her beloved dog, Toodles; sister, Gladys Smith (Keith); brother, Tracy Ward (Sandy); special niece who was her best friend, Lisa Mann (Steve), as well as nieces and nephew Lori Blevins, Clark Ward, and Amy Laws; several other nieces and nephews.

Per Gay’s wishes, a private burial will be held.
