Elaine Horan was born February 9, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts. She passed away on May 11, 2026 in Mountain City, TN. She was 97 years old. She was the beloved mother of Michael Horan and Patricia Jacobs and the widow of Paul T. Horan who passed away in 1985. Paul Horan was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a Fighting SeaBee.
She is survived by her children, Michael Horan and Patricia Jacobs, her granddaughter Michele Walts and great grandchildren Elaine, Vivian and Logan Younce. She has 4 grandsons who are Roy Jacobs and his children Ava, Rylee, Waylon and Luke, Kyle Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, Michael Jr. Jacobs and his children Annalyn, Kamryn, Ben and Abigail.
In 1970, Elaine and Paul, Michael and Patti moved from Whitman, Mass to Fort Lauderdale, FL. Elaine lived in Fort Lauderdale for many years. She enjoyed playing tennis at the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center where she was the captain of the A1 Women’s team. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling with friends and jogging. She worked at the Reef Restaurant and then the Fort Lauderdale DMV. She moved to Fort Pierce, FL to live with her daughter Patti and son-in-law Michael Jacobs in 2020. They all moved to Mountain City in 2023. Elaine loved going to the movies and walking in Ralph Stout Park everyday with Patti and her son Michael Horan. “Memé” was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Dillen and Patricia “Sullivan” Dillen and two brothers, Harold and David Dillen.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family of Elaine Horan has entrusted her services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
