Eddie Joe Forbes

Eddie Joe Forbes, Sr., age 80 of Mountain City, TN passed away on Thursday morning, October 19, 2023 at the Mountain City Care & Rehab Center. Eddie was born on June 26, 1943 in LaGrange, AR to the late Clifton Lee Forbes, Sr. and Eva Ethel “Sally” Burns Forbes. In addition to his parents Eddie was preceded in death by his stepson, Stephen Dale Stout; brothers, Billy Gene Forbes, Tommy Gene Forbes; sisters, Lala Bell Rippburger, Janice Carolyn Crews and Shirley Ann Cloud.

He retired from Reynolds Metal with 24 and half years of service as a machine operator. Eddie loved sports and he coached youth girls softball for 30 years. He enjoyed coon hunting with his 3 favorite coon dogs. Eddie also enjoyed going to festivals. He was veteran having served 6 years in the United States Army. Eddie was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories wife, Millie “Christine” Forbes; daughters, Sherry Lynn Hill, Diana Cozette Willis; son, Eddie Joe Forbes, Jr.; stepson, Michael Lee Stout (Vicki); sister, Patricia Ann Sledd; brother, Clifton Lee Forbes, Jr.; grandchildren, Brent, Blake, Cameron, Kayla, Carsyn; step-grandchildren, Carli Smith, Calli Rae Smith; seven great grandchildren; several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastors Greg Poe and Frank Woods officiating. Entombment will follow from Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.  Pallbearers will be Michael Stout, Eddie Forbes Jr., Roy Mitchell, Harold Gilly, Mike Fritts, Garland Miller, and Larry Barry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959
