Ed Morefield

Joseph Edward “Ed” Morefield, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1942 to the late Luke and Ann Morefield. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Joe Morefield; grandson, Pee Wee Church; and several siblings.

Ed was a man who cherished his faith, his family, and the simple things in life. He loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Mountain City Church of Christ. Ed enjoyed gardening and hunting, finding happiness in spending time outdoors and appreciating the beauty of God’s creation. Above all else, his family was the most important part of his life. He loved them all dearly, but his grandchildren held a particularly special place in his heart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Helen Morefield; children, Kathy Church, Jim Morefield (Sherry), Sue Eggers (Darryl), Bob Morefield, and Lori Cornell (Beaver); grandchildren, Tequila Osborne, Joey Icenhour (Chris), Eddie Morefield (Michelle), Morgan Roush (Dustin), Jimmy Morefield, Brandon Church, Dillon Church, Halaina Rhymer (Anthony), Alexis Eggers, Benji Porter, Kylie Morefield, Macie Morefield, Davy Cornell (Marisa), Taylor Cornell (Jonny), Kortney Bodenhamer, and Wesley Bodenhamer; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Kayleigh, Chloe, Thomas, Carson, Justin, Austin, Gage, Riley, Connor, Brett, Aiden, Lily, Emma Marie, Little Joe, Brantley, Braxton, A.J., Haven, Ember, Jovie, Brier, Sofia, Ryder, Sarah, Maddie, Matthew, and Brandon; sisters, Gracie Osborne, Peggy Woodard, Mary Townsed, Bessie Hammonds; brothers, Harold Morefield and Bud Morefield; several nieces and nephews.

No formal services will be held.
