Earline Lay

Earline K. Lay, age 76, passed away May 3, 2023 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Earline was born June 11, 1946 to the late Vance Howard Kirby and Nelle Potter Kirby.

Earline drove the media bus for the school system for many years and was a librarian at the middle school, Laurel, and Doe Elementary. She always had a love for children and books and was a great teacher and mentor. She was a loving, generous and compassionate lady who liked helping people. She loved her country and serving God. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memories include her sons, David Lay and wife Pamela, Charles Lay and wife Jennifer, Duane Lay, Victor Lay; sisters, Willa Grey Adams, Kathy McFadden, Bitha Lu Pardue, Chana Kirby; brother, Buck Kirby; grandchildren, Ginny, Gianna, Bryan, Holly; great grandson, Grayson; aunt, Tula “Tootsie” Wilson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Prater to officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow at Acre Field Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Duane Lay, David Lay, Charles Lay, Victor Lay, Bryan Lay, and Buck Kirby. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Isaacs, Brian Taylor, Grayson Lay, and Tim Price.
