Donald Sparger

Donald Roberts Sparger (05/04/1933) of Shady Valley TN, formerly of Bristol, TN passed away on Monday, Sept. 9, 2026 at the Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, TN. Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Kitzmiller Sparger, a son Timothy Blake Sparger, granddaughters Melinda Smith and Amanda Henderson, step-son Donald Bradley and step-daughters Kimberly Ollis, Jennifer Godsey, Amy Lashlee and Kerry Cashion. He was very proud of his 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Eula Roberts Sparger, a daughter Susan Sparger Smith, a son Daniel Sparger, sister June Sparger and brothers William (Bill) and Jack.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Don was educated in the Bristol school system, a graduate of ETSU with a degree in physics and advance management programs at Boston and Harvard universities.

Don was an employee of Raytheon Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed his retirement as a woodworker and an amateur vintner, winning awards for several of his wines.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
