Docia Marie Clawson, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on March 9, 1946 to the late William and Flossie Mann in Avery County, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman Raymond Clawson; sister, Lorraine Miller; brother, Troy Mann; granddaughter, Jessica Clawson. Docia taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was known as “Nanny” to all the kids. She was a very friendly Christian lady who had never met a stranger. Above all other things, her love for the Lord was most important. Docia loved her church and church family at Midway Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Lisa Phillips (Tim), Gaye Dunn (Fred), Phyllis Isaacs (Rob); sons, Eric Clawson, Keith Clawson (Becky); grandchildren, Jason Stanton (Kristy), Kevin Curd (Amanda), Cristy Stanton (Brandon), Jamie Cannet, Ethan Clawson, Joshua Clawson, Robbie Isaacs, Crystal Hicks (Jason), Melissa Dunn, Anthony Mullis, Natasha Potter, RJ Mains, Cleave Mains (Shonda); great grandchildren, Madison Riffle, Sarenitie Cannet, CJ Cannet, Gavin Curd, William Smith, Kylee Mink, Jayce Clawson, Jessica Curtis, Tara Isaacs, James Carver, Tyler Hicks, Ciara Hicks, Aubrionna Dunn, Isaiah Eller, Riley Potter, Quinton Potter, Makenzie Potter, Harlem Potter, Ulrich Mains, Lexi Potter, Aurora Main; great great grandchildren, Emma and David Mayfield, Zoey Curtis, Madilyn Stanton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous special friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Pastors James Richardson and Greg Thompson officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Bakers Gap Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tim Phillips, Fred Dunn, Rob Isaacs, Kevin Curd, Jason Stanton, and Josh Clawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Clawson, Midway Baptist Church, Doe Valley Baptist Church, and Bakers Gap Baptist Church. The family requests everyone observe COVID-19 precautions. The family will receive friends at the home, 449 Tom Bunton Lane, Butler, TN 37640.
