Delmas Bunton

Delmas Leon Bunton, age 93, of Butler, TN, passed away April 9, 2026 at the Waters of Roan Highlands. He was born March 12, 1933 to the late Fawn and Sally Cable Bunton. In addition to his parents, Delmas was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Lennis Campbell Bunton; brothers, Willard and Willis Bunton, and James Cable; and sisters, Nell and Selma Bunton, and Mary Greenwell.

Delmas was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and attended Elk River Baptist Church. He was employed at North American Rayon for 24 years. Delmas loved his garden, which he mostly raised to give away. He was well known in his community for always lending a helping hand and he will be dearly missed.

Delmas is survived by his siblings, George Bunton and wife Velma of Butler, TN, Lorean Pearson and husband Billy of Elizabethton, TN, and J. R. Bunton of Elizabethton, TN; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Steve and Missy Payne, Richard Carter, Jo Burchette, Michael Blevins, Matt Blevins, Peggy Davenport, and Michael Walsh.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Elk River Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Pearson to officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Whitehead Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Payne, Michael Blevins, Matt Blevins, Jamie Payne, Justin Payne, Michael Walsh, and Dan Packard.
