Deane Brooks

Deane Shoun Brooks, age 80, passed away on April 12, 2024. Deane was born October 3, 1943 to the late Doran and Helma “Dolly” Shoun. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Ellen Shoun; brother, Stuart Shoun; and nephew, Larry Dunn.

Deane was talented at crafting and was a skilled quilt maker. She was also an excellent cook. Deane was a wonderful wife, mom, sister, aunt, and friend. She attended Hammons Chapel Christian Church.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 62 years, Eddie “Pop” Brooks; adopted daughter, Rhonda Brooks; son-in-law, Ken Mesler; sisters, Reba Taylor, Deborah Stevenson and husband Gene and son Jimmy, Liz Roush and husband Matthew; grandchildren, K.C. Mesler and wife Dani and granddog, Bailey,  and Jami Hughes and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Jared, Jacob, and Jackson; nieces and nephews, Robert Dunn, Reagan Click, Casie Eller and husband JR, Steven Shoun and wife Melissa, Samantha, and Dianna; great-niece, Riley Shoun; great-nephews, Nathaniel Shoun, Brendan Brittain, Lawson Brittain, and Hunter Norris; great great-nieces, Anslee Danner, Railey Eller, and Gracelynn Eller; several cousins and many friends.

Deane’s wish was to be cremated and no formal service will be held. A celebration of life service will take place at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Josh Giddings and Watauga Medical Center, particularly the 4^th floor staff and doctors.
