Dean Gentry

Dean Edward Gentry, age 79, passed away February 15, 2026 at his home. He was born February 28, 1946 to the late Luther Edward Gentry and Gladys Able Gentry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jane Gentry and nephews, Donnie and Ronnie Hampton.

Dean always looked forward to gardening season and enjoyed tending to it. Whether he was walking in the woods or spending time at his cabin, he found peace being outdoors. Overall, his greatest joy came through his grandchildren, who he adored most of all. He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his sons, Dean Gentry (April), Justin Gentry (Malori); sisters, Helen Harless, Arlene Atwood; grandchildren, Austin Gentry (Brandy), Parker Gentry; special niece, Jessica Blevins; best friend, Bennie Campbell; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastors David Garland and Bill Morefield officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the service at Stateline Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Gentry, Austin Gentry, Ogene Greer, Jackie Atwood, Tracy Atwood, Bennie Campbell, and Stevie Hampton. Honorary pallbearers are Parker Gentry and Tyler Yarber.
