David Reece, Sr.

David “Big Dave” Reece, Sr., age 67, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025 at his home. He was born January 12, 1958 to the late Herbert and Betty Reece. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Reece, and the mother of his sons David and Josh, Coyetta Reece.

There was nothing Big Dave couldn’t do. He was a very knowledgeable person and liked working on just about anything. He also enjoyed racing his truck and fishing. He liked working outside and keeping his yard looking good. Big Dave had a big heart; he was a loving father and grandfather. He was of the Christian faith.

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Madison Reece (Nathan); sons, David Reece, Jr. and Josh Reece (Julie); step-son, Dylan Church; brothers, Roger Reece (Kathy), Eddie Reece (Bonnie), Dallas Reece (Sherry), and Donald Reece; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jameson, Keira, Colby, Bentley, Daizee, and Camden; one great-grandchild on the way, Jaizlynn; mother of his daughter Madison, Brenda Greer; close friends, Jeff Guinn and Charlie “Doodle” Campbell; special friends, Teresa Williams ans Ashley Story; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Michael Fritts officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow funeral at Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Guinn, Nathan Painter, Josh Reece, David Reece, Jr., Eddie Reece, Dylan Church, and Jimmy Jenkins.
