Danny McElyea

Daniel Harold “Danny” McElyea, age 65, passed away June 17, 2025. He was born October 9, 1959 in West Chester, PA to the late Clarence McElyea and Marie McElyea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lewis Wilson and nephews, Brad Dunn and Johnny Johnson.

Danny was a veteran of the United States Navy and served 14 years. He loved sports and was a big fan of JCHS football, Tennessee Vols, and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his family and always supported his grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Tammy McElyea; daughter, Angela Campbell and husband David; son, Chris McElyea and wife Elizabeth; sister, Kathy Dunn (Paul), Sheila Story (Steve), Linda Wilson; grandchildren, Annie McElyea, Camden and Gavin Carico; Wyatt Campbell, Ben Campbell; nieces and nephews, Matt Story and Bethany Allen, Scotty and Jason Johnson and his special dog, Nikki.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Shannon Courtner officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Sunset Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be David Campbell, Gary McElyea, Steve Story, and Larry Dunn.
