Daniel Laws

Daniel Keith Laws, age 46, went home to be with Jesus on June 25, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 18, 1977 in Johnson County. Daniel loved his family and made a point to tell them as often as possible, sometimes with a hug or often with a text or nickname.

Daniel found his love for music at a young age. He was a profound guitar and piano player. His most cherished times were playing music with his father and brother and other great bluegrass musicians. Daniel spent a lot of time with his nephews and nieces teaching them how to play the guitar or relaxing by a great fishing hole. He also was an avid deer hunter.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Gary Laws. Daniel missed him deeply every day since his passing. We can find solace in knowing he’s been reunited with his dad. What a joyous reunion it must have been for them both. Daniel also cherished his mother-in-law, Mary Nell Fritts, whom he dearly loved and missed. “Doodle Bug”, the family cat, was a special part of Daniel’s life also.

Daniel is survived by the love of his life, Tammy. After dating for 7 years they were married and rarely separate for the next 24 years. He is also survived by his mother Wanda Laws and father-in-law Earl “Honey” Fritts, both of Mountain City; sister, Melissa Taylor (Kenneth) of Mountain City; brother, Gary Wayne Laws (Kimberly) of Elizabethton; sister-in-law, Sherry Fritts of Mountain City, and Melissa Brewer (Lee) of Mountain City; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles. His love, laughter, and music will remain with us always and his memory will be cherished forever.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m with Pastor Leonard Fletcher and Associate Pastor Eddie Smith officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Fletcher Cemetery on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Pallbearers will be Steve Laws, Christopher “Dude” Laws, Dan Arney, Doug Arney, Kenneth Taylor, Patrick Stout, and Jamie Osborne. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Wayne Laws, Joe Clawson, William Branch, Matt Cress, and Nathan Warren.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
