CC Phillips Jr.

CC Phillips Jr.

CC Phillips Jr., age 87, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness.  He was born on July 16, 1931 to the late Neil and Hester (Burton) Phillips.  In addition to his parents, CC was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Vernice; one step-son, Wayne Jessee; sister, Chestalee Mansfield and Irene Morrell and brothers, Thomas, Charlie, Elmer, Dayton and Ernest Phillips. 

CC was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Korean War.  CC was always happy and had a contagious smile and laugh.  He never met a stranger and was always helping others.

CC enjoyed being outdoors and especially enjoyed watching fish in his pond.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Phillips, who was his teenage sweetheart.  They were reunited again and married in 1988 and had 30 wonderful years together.  Also surviving are his children; Colleen Charland and husband Roland, Sonny Phillips and wife Gail, Andy Phillips and Holly Lopez and husband Alfonso; sister, Maxine Landry; brother, Aubrey ‘Tex’ Phillips and Sandy; grandchildren; Bryan Charland and wife Leah and their daughter, Loryn, Joey Charland and wife Erica and their son, Lincoln, David Charland and wife Monica, Eyonnie Lopez, Alfonso Lopez; step grandchildren, Terri and Storm and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ray Greene officiating.  Graveside service and interment with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow at the Cable Cemetery.  Pallbearer will be Roland Charland, Bryan Charland, Joey Charland, David Charland, Paul Stansberry and Taylor Farthing. 

At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 9391 Hwy 321, Butler, TN or at the home of his daughter, Colleen, 319 Norman Dugger Road, Butler, TN.
