Cathy Cornelius

Cathy Cornelius, age 80 of Shady Valley, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Cathy was born September 24, 1941 in Washington D.C. to the late Edward Lee Glover Jr. and Eva Mae Austin Glover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Lee Cornelius Seder. Cathy grew up in a military family and was very patriotic. Her father and eight uncles served in WWII. Her husband, sons, nephews and grandsons carried on the military tradition. She was also unbelievably kind and generous to everyone. Cathy always knew how to make the best out of every situation and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed playing practical jokes on her friends and loved a good laugh, even at herself. Cathy was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her family and was always involved in activities and sports. Above all she was a fine Christian lady who loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Harmon Chapel Christian Church. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 62 years, John R. Cornelius Sr.; sons, John R. Cornelius Jr. (Brandy), Stan E. Cornelius Sr. (Kathy), Michael A. Cornelius (Jackie); sister, Brenda Joyce Glover Nocera (Mickey); sisters in law, Linda (Jimmy), Judy (Richard); grandchildren, Daniel (Olivia), Steve Jr., Joseph, Jennifer (Brian), Stan Jr. (Kristina), Eddie, David (Chelsea), Cody (Olivia), Brenden (Stephanie), Ben, Gabby, McKenzie; great grandchildren, Rayden, Silas, Natalie, Miles, Stan III, John Casper, Holston, Benjamin; special aunt, Ruth Hill; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Harmon Chapel Christian Church. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randle Johnson officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Blevins Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Cornelius Jr, Stan Cornelius Sr., Michael Cornelius, Stan Cornelius Jr., David Cornelius, Eddie Cornelius, Cody Cornelius, Ben Cornelius, and Brenden Shalala. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Seder Sr., Steve Seder Jr., Joseph Seder, Jet Cornelius, John Shumate, and Daniel Cornelius.
