Carolyn Sue Potter, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 9, 2022 at NHC of Johnson City, TN. She was born on April 12, 1935 in Carter County to the late Oscar and Verna Stout Burrow. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Burrow, Mattie Pleasant, and Dinah Parker; and brothers, John, Harry, Billy Joe, Robert, and Shirley Burrow. Sue enjoyed cooking and canning. She worked in the dietary department of Johnson County Hospital and as a teacher’s aide in the Johnson County School System for a number of years. Sue cared for and enjoyed the presence of her husband, her dog Tinky, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as neighbors and friends whom she all cherished. She was a humble, grateful, and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was full of energy and spunk and worked hard as a homemaker most of her days. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Francis Ray Potter; daughters, Mary Lynn McNabb and husband, Gary, and Teresa Potter Crowder and husband, Drew; sons, Larry Potter and wife, Brenda, Tommy Ray Potter, and Troy Eric Potter; grandchildren, Rebecca Jenkins(Nathan), Rachell Hull(Andy), Phillip Potter(Meredith), Derek Hess(Lori), Katie Potter, Daniel Cunningham, and Darren Cunningham; great- grandchildren, Benjamin Hull, Eli Jenkins, Savannah Jenkins, Alexandra Hull, Audrey Hull, Liam Hess, Evelyn Hess, Grace Potter, and Evan Potter; several nieces, nephews, and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Icenhour to officiate. The burial will be in Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Hess, Daniel Cunningham, Darren Cunningham, Denver Church, Nathan Jenkins, and Andy Hull. Honorary pallbearers are Van Neely, Charles Oliver, Jack Hodges, and Bill Hughes.
