Carolyn Gentry

Carolyn Ruby Gentry, age 72, passed away Monday evening, March 23, 2026 at Amorem Hospice Care. She was born August 17, 1953 to the late Conley Odell Humphrey and Cora Lee Eldreth Humphrey. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Gentry and nephew, Chadwick Frank Lewis.

Carolyn showed love to others through acts of service; helping people brought her great joy. She was the type of person to give a stranger “the shirt off her back and last dime out of her pocket”. Carolyn was a skilled quilter and enjoyed her tablet and playing Phase 10. She was also an avid collector of lighthouses.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Greg Humphrey; grandchildren, Cynthia Humphrey (Joey), Brittany Barnett (Dylan), and Tyler Humphrey (Belle); great-grandchildren, Brianna, Kinsley, Matthew, Octavia, Valerie, Madeline, Luna, and Alex; sister, Judy Hoppers (Lance); brothers, Bobby Humphrey (Phyllis), Glen Humphrey, and Richard Humphrey; niece and nephews, Kristen Humphrey, Dakota Humphrey, and Josh Humphrey; and special friends, Rita Trivette, Beverly Johnson, and Patty.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Lewis to officiate. The burial will immediately follow from the Dunn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Humphrey, Tyler Humphrey, Lester Miller, Joey Aldridge, David Lewis, and Dylan Barnett.
