Carl Stephens

Carl Grant Stephens, age 77 of Creston, NC, passed away on September 6, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center. Carl was born on November 22, 1943 to the late JS and Eula Jackson Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Stephens, Jack Stephens and wife Barbara, Clayton Stephens; sisters, Francis Graham and husband Lawrence, Celeste Oliver and husband Joe, and the mother of his children, Linda Calhoun Stephens. Carl was a retired truck driver and although he didn’t speak often of it, Carl was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army. Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Eddie Stephens (Patty), Melissa Lafon (Dale), Charlie Stephens (Linda); companion, Brenda Pass; grandchildren, Johnathan Stephens (Tiffany), Kimberly Stephens (Blake Helms), Danielle Maxson (Daniel), Jasmine Stephens, Makayla Smith (James), Emily Stephens; great grandchildren, Colby Stephens, Lilly Stephens, Addison Stephens; siblings, Wilma Gamble, Joann Jones, Tom Stephens (Christine); sister-in-law, Joyce Stephens; several nieces and nephews; several special friends at the McDonalds BS Club. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Jeff Web, David Lunceford, and Tom Stephens officiating.
