Mrs. Bonnie Mae Sargent went home to be with her Lord on June 8, 2025 at her residence in Weslaco, Texas. She was a former resident of Butler, Tennessee and moved to Weslaco, Texas in 2015.
Mrs. Sargent was born on December 20, 1943 in Pineville, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Myrtle Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Calvin Sargent and one brother, Bill Murphy of Mountain City, Tennessee.
Bonnie retired from Levi Strauss in Mountain City, Tennessee and also Blue Ridge Fabricators in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She was a member of Dyson Grove Baptist Church in Butler, Tennessee and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Donna, Texas. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and watching Westerns.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Lori Hughes and husband George of Weslaco, Texas, and her son Brian Sargent and wife Donna of Hendersonville, North Carolina and two brothers, Bernard Murphy of Bristol, Tennessee and Mike Murphy and wife Karen of Mountain City, Tennessee and two sister-in-laws, Jan Murphy of Mountain City, Tennessee and Betty Johnson of Milford, Virginia and four grandchildren, Maggie Olvera and husband Victor of Weslaco, Texas, Kelly Davis and husband Troy of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Chris Hughes and wife Alysia of Butler, Tennessee and Logan Sargent and wife Sydney of Hendersonville, North Carolina and six great grandchildren, Elisha Hughes, Olivia Balboa, and Jonah Balboa of Weslaco, Texas and Olivia Mills, Riley Mills, and Tillman Mills of Butler, Tennessee and Baby Olvera due in September and several nieces and nephews .
A special thank you to Saint Anthony's Hospice Care Director Pamela Lerma, her nurse Minnie and CNA Sonia E. Jaimez.
Her Celebration of Life service will be July 12, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Dyson Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Leonard Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Dyson Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Calvin Sargent.
