Billy Ray Jordan, age 83, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Lakebridge Nursing Facility in Johnson City, TN. Billy Ray was born on January 6, 1939 in Marshville, NC to the late Floyd Richard Jordan and Willene Rowell Jordan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Max Jordan, and Larry Jordan. Billy Ray was a multi-talented man and jack of all trades. He enjoyed driving around and always loved some good food, especially banana pudding and homemade jam. He thoroughly enjoyed getting to know people and loved working with kids, especially teenagers. Little children were always drawn to his personality as well. He was a hard worker all his life and retired after many years as an educator. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Kim Franklin (Brian), Kathy Jordan (Aubrey Spurlock), Amy Lewis (Bob); mother of his children, Nancy Cuthbertson Jordan; brother, Charles Jordan; grandchildren, Adam Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Moriah Franklin, Max Maling, Avery Larimer, Isaac Maling, Brennan Larimer, Calix Larimer, Lillianah Larimer, Elias Larimer, Doughton Lewis; also loved by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with family members speaking and Preacher Jim Kelly. The graveside service and burial will follow at Reece Memorial Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Adam Wilson, Max Maling, Avery Larimer, Isaac Maling, Brennan Larimer, Calix Larimer, Elias Larimer, and Doughton Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Elizabeth Wilson, Moriah Franklin, and Lillianah Larimer. The family would like to thank the staff of The Courtyards, Lakebridge, and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate) or the Alzheimer’s Association (225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601).
