Billy Murphy

` Billy R. Murphy, age 75, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, November 30, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. He was born on January 23, 1945 in Gilbert, West Virginia to the late Johnnie Murphy and Myrtle Greer Murphy. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Michael Patrick Murphy in 2004. Bill was an over the road truck driver for many years. He enjoyed mowing his yard. Bill loved cooking and especially cooking for the yearly Jubilee at Dyson Grove Church where he was a member. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Janice L. Harrison Murphy he is survived by his daughter, Patricia Suzanne (Suzy) Murphy; sister, Bonnie Sargent of Texas; brothers, Bernard Murphy of Bristol, TN and Michael Murphy of Mountain City, several nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Dyson Grove Church with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Leonard Fletcher to officiate. Pallbearers will be Shannon Murphy, Michael Murphy, Bernard Murphy, Mike Murphy, Bobby Roark, Skip Roark and Brian Sargent. Burial will follow from the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyson Grove Baptist Church Parking Lot Fund, 8483 Roan Creek Road, Butler, TN 37640.
