Bill Adams

Bill Adams, age 79, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Bristol Regional Hospital. Bill was born on July 10, 1945 in Mountain City, TN to the late Dolphus Adams and Pauline Powell Richards. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Roark Adams and brother-in-law, Dick Jenkins.

Bill was a 1963 graduate of Johnson County High School. For those who knew Bill best, he was a man involved in his community working at the Leco and Gensco factories and then Levi Strauss until retirement and continued to serve with the Levi Retirees group for about 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the Second District Fire Department and a member of the Johnson County Lions Club for 40 plus years He worked for the Johnson County Solid Waste Transfer Station for over 20 years, along with being elected County Commissioner and serving 47 years. He served on other different committees throughout the years and held the seat of County Commissioner in the State of Tennessee longer than anyone. Bill enjoyed being outdoors, farming and raising crops of tobacco. Lately he enjoyed riding his golf cart around and every morning he would read Psalms 91 and lived in those promises.

Bill is survived by his wife Joy Wilson Adams, sisters, Judy Lewis and Rachel Combs of Mountain City, TN; brothers, Darren Richardson of Austin, Texas, and Everett Adams of Trade, TN; sons, Adam Wilson (Melissa), Keith Wilson (Sheila) and David Wilson; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Donnie and Linda Roark, Keith and Penny Roark and David Roark; granddaughters, Bridgette, Kelsey and Amber; several nieces and nephews, Alex Roark, Lacy Roark, Jordan Roark, Bryan Roark, Andy Roark, Erin Taylor (Brad), Scott Broyhill, Gloria Hackler , and Belinda Price, and many past and present friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Will Kerley and Rev. Josh Giddings officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Wilson, Keith Wilson, David Wilson, Kenneth Lowe, Michael Nichols, David Roark and Andy Roark. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Roark, Jordan Roark, Alex Roark, Lacy Roark, Erin Taylor, Gloria Hackler, Belinda Price, Scott Broyhill, Larry Potter, Danny Cunningham, former Levi Retiree’s, Lions Club, second District Fire Dept, Johnson County Commissioners and Bill’s many friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Johnson County Cancer Support group c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy 421 N. Mountain City, TN 37683 ( Bill was active with the annual fund drive).
