Betty Phillips

Betty Sue Phillips, age 80, passed away August 26, 2024. Betty was born January 21, 1944 in Pikeville, KY to the late Green and Caroline Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Phillips and Charlie Horne; son, Kenny Phillips; sisters, Emogene Murphy, Gladys Tucker, Rosetta Benner, Florisse Thomas; and brothers, Bill Coleman, Argus Coleman, Kenneth Coleman, Eugene Coleman.

Betty was a devoted Christian who lived her life for the Lord. She enjoyed watching preaching on television and listening to gospel music. She was also a wonderful wife and mother that loved taking care of her home and family. 

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Patty Roberts; sons, Darren Phillips, Donny Phillips (Marcy); sister, Bonita Stephenson; brother, Bobby Coleman (Phoebe); grandchildren, Crystal, Molly, Danny, Lauren, Abi; great grandson, James; special friend, Marie Jennings; her beloved dog, Boo and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Shannon Courtner officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral at Phillips Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
