Betty S Howard

  Betty Sue Howard, age 77, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on October 8, 2018 at her home. She was born on January 21, 1941 to the late Harold and Lillian Slagle Smith.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one son, James ‘Gingo’ Fredrick Howard, brothers, James Edward ‘Bud’ Smith, Garnett Lee Smith and John Henry Smith.  Betty was a former employee of the Blue Ridge Shoe Company. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she enjoyed spoiling.  She loved all kinds of flowers.  Betty was of the Baptist faith. Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Deborah Marie Deyton and husband Terry, Helen Juanita Blevins, Linda Kay Stephens and husband Charlie, Sylvia Ann Howard McCoy and husband Jessie and John Thomas ‘Chorter’ Howard and companion Beth, sisters, Ruby Mae Chambers and Juanita Marie Morefield; brothers, Tommy Ray Smith and Harold William ‘Jr.’ Smith; grandchildren, Johnny Deyton, Daniel Deyton (Chasity), Jason Winters (Julie), James Parson, Kathy Hatley, Jasmine Stephens, Emily Stephens, Brittany Howard (Rodney), Dennis Blevins (Breionna); great grandchildren, Jack Deyton, Adam Deyton, Connor Deyton, Logan Deyton, Sissy Deyton, Bryson Winters, Madison Church, Timmy Church, April Parsons, Piper Blevins, Faith Blevins, Dennis Blevins Jr., Nathan Blevins, Hayden Bailey and JoJo Bailey; several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow with Pastor James Gentry officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dennis Blevins, Robbie Carlson, Mike Howard, David Grubb, Greg Hayworth and Bobby Joe Winters. Honorary Pallbearers are D. Swift, Mark Carlson, Doyle Carlson, Jessie McCoy and Terry Deyton. At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 6910 Hwy 91 N, Laurel Bloomery, TN.
