Betty Greer

It is with great sadness the family of Betty Jo Sue Greer, 71, announces her passing on December 30, 2023 at her residence after a lengthy illness. “And we know in that all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Eugene McKinnis and one brother, Martin Wade McKinnis.

Betty was born and raised in Johnson County where she met and married the love of her life, Jim, together they raised three children. She was a god-fearing, faithful Christian woman and a member of Rock Springs Church of Christ for 51 years. She was a devoted loving wife and mother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, James Grayson Greer “Jim”; children, Melissa Price (Chris), James Edward Greer (Crystal), Kenny Grayson Greer (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Tabitha Price, Brittany Keller, Brandi Greer, Tiffany Greer, Heather Hardin; great grandchildren, Christian Keller, Gabrial Keller, Kayle Price, and Meredith Hardin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 with Harold Morefield and Buddy Morefield to officiate. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow the funeral from Phillippi Cemetery.
