Barney P Jennings

Barney P. Jennings, age 78, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center.  He was born on December 27, 1939 to the late Walter Clyde Jennings and Lora ‘Mae Bell’ Cornett Jennings.  In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by one grandson, Jody Jennings Jr., sister, Verlene Martin and brothers, Howard, Geter, Oscar, Columbus, Ralph and Perry Jennings. Barney came from a large family and was one of 15 children.  He learned the value and reward of hard work at an early age and took great pride in any job he did.  He worked in Pennsylvania as a mushroom farmer for 30 years and at Jennings Construction for another 30 years.  Barney was a very good man, husband, father, grandfather, brother and loved his family very much.  He was a people person and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He had several hobbies but really enjoyed fishing when he wasn’t working. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 58 years, Lucille Furchess Jennings, daughter, Lora Jennings Crosswhite of Nottingham, PA, sons, Jody ‘Bo’ Jennings and wife Lori, Raeburt ‘Ray’ Jennings and wife Melinda and Barney ‘Moses’ Jennings and wife Debbie, all of Mountain City, TN, sisters, Nora Mae Swift of Sherman, TX and Evelyn Farmer of Mountain City, TN, brothers, Dewey Jennings, James Jennings, both of West Grove, PA, Ben Jennings, Tony Jennings and Butch Jennings, all of Mountain City, TN, twelve grandchildren, Steven, Scotty, Adam, Amanda, Jessica, Preston, Rachel and Sue, all of PA and Chris, Kelly, Krista and Mark, all of Mountain City, TN, 23 great grandchildren, special friend, James Harper and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Spencer Roark officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow in the Jennings Family Cemetery.  Pallbearers are grandsons, Steven, Scotty, Adam, Chris, and Mark Jennings, Preston Crosswhite, Ryan Lech and Shawn Forrester.  Honorary pallbearers are Randy Reburn and Sonny Jennings.
