Barbara Ann Wilson, age 88, passed away on September 5, 2022. Barbara was born on July 15, 1934 in Zionville, NC to the late Henry and Georgia Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Helton Wilson; sister, Dora Love and grandson, Shane Wilson. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Johnson County, having worked for Maymead for 33 years, Tri-State Growers, and Mountain Electric. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Maple Chapter #79 and was WGM in Tennessee 2002. She loved being a part of that special organization and made many friendships across the state of Tennessee and various others. She was also the Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls in Mountain City and State Mother Advisor in 1979. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Barbara was a member of Zionville Baptist Church and the pianist for over 60 years. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter Sandra Wilson; son, Wayne Wilson; sisters, Rebecca Wagner, Ollie Phipps; grandchildren, Stephanie Barry (Anthony), Christopher Potter (Rachel), Travis Taylor, April Greer (Cody), Kayla Coffey (James); great grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, Rylee Potter, Reid Potter, Alana Greer, Ada Greer, Raegan Coffey; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Zionville Baptist Church with Eastern Star service to follow at 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Zionville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Derrick Wilson officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Potter, Travis Taylor, Anthony Barry, Cody Greer, Freddie Phipps, Jimmy Phipps, and Jeff Wagner. Honorary pallbearer is Christopher Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 132, Zionville, NC 28698.
