Arlie Smith Hodge, 82, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Arlie was a strong, determined, and compassionate man who was deeply devoted to his family. He found his greatest joy in the simple parts of life hard work and time spent together. As a young father, he took on the roles of father, mother, and best friend, providing steady guidance and unconditional love. His strength and dedication created a foundation that will continue to guide his family for years to come.
A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Arlie spent many years working on his farm. Whether tending the land, hunting in the early morning, or fishing on a quiet afternoon, he felt most at home in nature. The outdoors was where he built lasting memories with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the value of hard work and respect.
In his later years, Arlie cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. You could often find him around town running errands and staying busy, always enjoying the simple rhythms of daily life.
Above all, Arlie loved his family and took great pride in them. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the strength he instilled in those who knew him. He was of the Baptist faith.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In addition to his parents, William Jacob “Jay” Hodge and Bonnie Elizabeth Hodge, he was preceded in death by his wife June Dale Hodge; niece, Loretta Grindstaff; nephew, Dougie Grindstaff; great grandchildren, Chloe Rose, Hunter Jackson, several angel babies, and several other special family members.
