Arlen Jay Sala, age 56, passed away March 12, 2026 at Johnson City Medical Center. Arlen was born November 11, 1969 to the late Donald and Alma Sala. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Mary Sala, Paul and Frances Pardue; sister-in-law, Mary (Dixon) Sala; mother of his children, Sharon (Gentry) Sala; several aunts and uncles.
Arlen was a trucker for many years until a recent serious accident. He had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He was also a talented guitar player and liked listening to classic country and southern rock music. Arlen was also known for loving a good southern home-cooked meal and sweet tea.
Arlen was a Christian and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Shania Powell (Tyler) and daughter Isabella and soon to be born baby boy Bryson; son, Austin Sala (Nicole Ward); sister, Donna Burgess (Brent); brother, Gary Sala; special nieces, Deidre Dunn (Logan), Greta Helm (Eric); several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends who were like family.
The family would like to thank Lisa Lipford, Bill Burrow, the JCMC staff and his caregivers, Callie Smith and Barbara Long for their care during his accident.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Bubba Cannon officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Rock Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Forrester, Edward Sutherland, Wayne Hicks, Joe Stanley, Austin Sala, and Gary Sala. Honorary pallbearers are Steve McCoy, Rob Trivette, Donnie Reece, Vance Gentry and his many friends.
