Mary Gladys Corum

Mary Corum Mary Corum, age 66, of Mountain City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, January 3, 2010 at her residence after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. Mary was born May 18, 1943 in Johnson County to the late Dewey Austin Church and Ollie Mae Gregg Church. Mary owned a transportation company and loved her family, reading, painting, sewing and traveling. She attended Believers Family Worship Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Ann Matheson and Barbara Grindstaff and three brothers, Monroe, Hobart and Earnest Church. Survivors include three sons, Randy Corum and wife Marquese of Morristown, TN: Chad Corum and wife Sharon of Zionville, NC and Jeff Corum and wife Amy of Mountain City; sister, Wilma Howard of Charlotte; brothers, Mike Church and Lester Church of Mountain City; grandchildren, Genny, Heather, Devan, Derick, Laurel and Randy, Jr., two great grandchildren, Roman Matthew Corum and Lexie Corum; special friend, Danny Herman and numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the service following at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Chad Corum and Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Pallbearers were Danny Herman, Joe Herman, Bernie Silverberg, Ray Boyger, Dennis Cook and Keith Laidig. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Osborne, Ralph Matheson, George Lowe, Tommy Jack Shoun and all friends. Graveside service and interment was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Shoun-McEwen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and food, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association (Lou Gehrig's Disease), 214 Commerce St., Kingsport, TN 37660.
