Alvin Filden Proffitt

Alvin Proffitt, age 82, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on September 18, 1930 to the late John Elbert Proffitt and Perdie Ida Forrester Proffitt. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Tester. Alvin was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge, Nur Temple Shrine Club and Scottish Right, both of Delaware and the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Ho Castle Fire Company of Ho Castle, Delaware and the Neva Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Alvin is survived by his friend and companion, Louella Dunn; three nieces and one nephew, his church family at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; and many, many special friends. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jim Norman to officiate. Masonic Service will be conducted by the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge at the funeral home following the funeral. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
