Park J. Arnold, age 87, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on August 9, 1926 to the late E.W. and Eliza Pleasant Arnold. In addition to his parents, Park was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Arnold; sister, Bernice Matherly; brothers: Delmer Arnold, J.E. Arnold and James Arnold. Park was a United States Veteran having honorably served in the Navy durning World War II. He was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church, where he also served as Deacon. Park was a hard, honest worker and like most people during his time, he was a proud farmer. He also worked for Tri-State Growers, delivering feed and supplies to his fellow farmers. When crops were ready, Park would haul beans to many destinations. He had also worked for the school system driving precious children safely to school and back home. Park is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 65 years, Evelyn Sue' Arnold; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Lynn Snyder; brother, Elwood Arnold; grandchildren: Rick Snyder and wife Miranda; Tom Snyder and wife Sally and April Grindstaff and husband Kenny, all of Butler, TN; great grandchildren: Megan Grindstaff Hart and husband Casey; Joshua Grindstaff, Brianna Snyder, Dawson Snyder and Addy Snyder; daughter-in-law, Faye Brickey of NC; special sister-in-law, Corine Arnold; sisters-in-law, Mary Arnold of Tucson, AZ and Mary Kate Arnold of Butler, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Little Doe Baptist Church with Pastor Kreg Smith to officiate. Special Guest Speaker will be Claude Duncan. Special music will be provided by the Little Doe Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Graveside Service & Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from the Butler Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nephews and Deacons of Little Doe Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Park's many special friends and his church family. Family, Friends and Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church by 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Park's memory to the Little Doe Baptist Church Building Fund, 325 Doe Creek Road, Butler, TN 37640. The family extends their appreciation and gratitude to the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Johnson County Home Health and the Johnson County Rescue Squad for all of their kindness and care.
