Raymond C. Arnold, age 68, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on August 9, 1945 to the late Herman and Edna Howard Arnold. Raymond had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed going to car shows with his family and friends. He loved his windshield time'. He loved to socialize', spend time with his family and friends and attend the Town Meetings' at the Quick Shop. Raymond could always make anyone laugh, telling his stories and jokes. Raymond enjoyed working with wood and was a retired carpenter who had built many homes. He was a United States Army Veteran. Raymond often said that one of the best things that ever happened to him was meeting and marrying Joan. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Joan Arnold; daughters and sons-in-law: Raina Sluder and husband Craig Sluder, who Raymond often referred to as a #1 Son-in-law and Stefanie Gorman and husband Steve Gorman; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Dale Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law: Willie and Millie Arnold and Albert and Sarah Arnold; grandchildren: Kalli Sluder and Dalton Sluder; several nieces and nephews; many, many, special friends and Raymond's dogs: Lexie and Dinky. Funeral Service for Raymond will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor David Hankal to officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from the Phillippi Cemetery and will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Bill Pope, Roby Dunn, Tom Icenhour, Justin Townsend, Joseph Townsend, Jeff Arnold, Steve Arnold and Wesley Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Dirt' May, Kenny Norris, Larry Payne, Danny Herman, Eric Townsend, Eddie Phillips and Kevin Phillips.
