Bill Gentry, age 71, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 8, 1942 to the late Walter and Lura Widener Gentry. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Roberts. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved going to Pond Mountain with his friends, enjoyed deer hunting and loved his dogs. He retired from the Johnson County School System following many years as the Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor. Bill's pride and joy was his wife Susan, daughters, son and grandchildren. He was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Susan Gentry; daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Ann and Russell Robinson and Amanda Elizabeth and Brian Gregg; son, Walter Scott Gentry; special nephew who was like a son, Ronnie Widener; sister, Lois Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph Dean Gentry and wife Helen; grandchildren: Mackenzie Ann Robinson and Emma Grayce Robinson; several nieces and nephews and many, many special friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Billy Morefield and Greg Blackburn officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will follow the funeral at the Stateline Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Widener, Mike Moore, Steve Hawkins, Gerald Blevins, Doug Roark and Jim Stanley. Honorary Pallbearers are: Mike Wills, Ronnie Pardue, Jim Jones, James Gentry and Cliff Dunn. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 1850 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN.
