Harvey King H.K.' Fowler, age 87, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Squire, WV on April 5, 1926 to the late Marybelle and Thomas Fowler. Harvey served in WWII on the battleship USS Tennessee. After the war, he married Lizzie Marie Whitt and worked as a coal miner until he retired and settled in Butler, TN where he has resided for the last 32 years. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and was famous for his chocolate and peanut butter candy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Marie Whitt Fowler, his brothers, Thomas Fowler, Jr. and Darryl Fowler. Harvey was survived by his only daughter, Deborah Surber and her husband Richard Surber of Butler, TN; three granddaughters, Bridget Surber of Portland, ME, Courtney Paz and her husband, Stan Paz of Suwanee, GA and Ashley Surber and her husband, Phillip Ehrmann of Suwanee, GA; four great-grandchildren, Madeleine Surber, Henry Surber of Portland, ME, Rylan Paz and Lyla Paz of Suwanee, GA; two brothers, Albert Fowler of Squire, WV and Donald Ray Fowler of Chicago, IL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church (Butler, TN) with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alan Koch to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Grandview Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bluefield, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends of Harvey.
