Mabel Greene Miller, age 84, of Mountain City, Tennessee, crossed over peacefully to her new home on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Waiting to meet her was her heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, her parents, Clay and Dora Greene, her husband of 51 years, Max Miller, her son, Dean Miller, her sisters-In-law, Mary Lou Reece and Martha Jean Greene, brother-in-law, Howard Dancey. She was born on December 24, 1929 in Vilas, North Carolina. She lived in Watauga County, North Carolina until 1986, when she moved to Mountain City. Mabel loved to quilt and had made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was helping others. In times of joy and sorrow, she was always there for her family and friends. Mabel loved to cook and was always first to take food in the event of sickness or death. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Mabel was a member of the American Legion Post #61 Auxiliary. She was a member of Zionville Baptist Church for 66 years and faithfully attended services until her health prevented her from doing so. Mabel is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law: Martha and Jimmy Miller and Barbara and Tony Simcox; daughter-in-law, Jean Miller; grandchildren: Christina Clay and husband Eric; Heather Hicks, Jennifer Smart and husband Andy, Julie Miller, Aaron Simcox and wife Rebecca, Kelly Cornett and husband Matt; step grandchildren: Melissa Stanley and husband Scott, Neal Ham and wife Heather; great grandchildren: Aliyah Clay, Sydney Hicks and Savannah Simcox and Savannah's baby brother or sister due In June; step great grandchildren: Casey Ham, Chloe and Wesley Ham; sister, Ivalee Dancey; brothers: Clay Verne Greene, Ted Greene and wife Betty; brother-in-law, Earl Miller and wife Lucille; her church family and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Zionville Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Tester and Minister Ken Caswell to officiate. Honorary Pastor is Carl Johnson, who was Mabel's pastor for years. Music will be provided by the Zionville Baptist Church Choir and Caleb Isaacs. Graveside Service and entombment will follow the funeral service at the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Aaron Simcox, Matt Cornett, Andy Smart, Bud Crosswhite, Scott Stanley and Eric Clay. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mabel's caregivers who gave her loving care and attention during the past year, June Brady, Tara Osborne, Phyllis Rominger and Laura Williams. Martha and Barbara want to especially thank their daughters; Jennifer, Julie and Kelly, for the sacrifices they have made during the past year to help care for their MaMaw. It would have been so much harder without their help. Memorials in Mabel's memory may be made to the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ollie Phipps, 800 Modock Road, Trade, TN 37691.
