Charles Robert Simpson, age 73, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born February 1, 1941 to the late Ashby R. Simpson and Olive M. Blizzard Goodnow. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Simpson. Charles was an avid Nascar fan and really enjoyed the older Nascar drivers. He was also an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed going camping, hunting, fishing and cooking. He loved animals, especially dogs. Charles had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a member of the Community Church. Charles was a Veteran having honorably served in the United States Marines. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Barbara Reece Simpson and their son Charles "Chase" Simpson, Jr. and his daughters: Shawn Miller, Kelly Wheeler and Cheryl Simpson; and his sons: Rick Simpson and Christopher Simpson; sisters: Maryle Ashley, Mary Lloyd and husband Junior; sister-in-law, Jane Simpson; brothers: David Simpson and wife Sandy, Ashby Simpson and wife Patricia; brothers and sister-in-law: Robert King and wife Deborah and Norman Bud' Reece; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Drake and Pastor Norm Reece to officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow from the Reece Memorial Cemetery and will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Rick Simpson, Chris Simpson, Chase Simpson, Norman Bud' Reece, Robert King and Christopher Dugger. Honorary Pallbearers are the Men of the Community Church.
