Joel Everette Icenhour Joel Everette Icenhour, age 87, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at his home on Hospital Road. He was born April 30, 1927 in Johnson County to the late Sam and Vina Brookshire Icenhour. In addition to his parents, Joel was preceded in death by siblings: Betty, Milburn, Marvin, John, Elmer and Clyner. Joel was married to the love of his life, Margaret Marie Osborne Icenhour for 69 years and was the father of five beloved children. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was always a wonderful example of how a person should live. He served in the Army during WWII in Germany. Joel was employed by the TVA Authority for 40 years. He was a labor Foreman on the building of Fort Patrick Henry, Watauga, Boone, South Holston, Loudon and Fontana Dams. Joel was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as the Chairman of Deacons for 52 years. He loved the Lord with his whole heart and was a true student of the Bible. He loved to grow flowers and vegetables and his beautiful yard was admired by many. Joel is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; daughters: Mary Ann Gambill (Earl), Lois Hatfield (John), Brenda K. Harper (Paul); sons: Bill Icenhour (Phyllis) and Lynn Osborne (Kim); grandchildren: Kim Hayworth (Kevin), Bev Gambill, Sam Icenhour(Deena), Johnny Hatfield (Katherine), Wayne Gambill (LaDeana), Billy Icenhour (Jennifer), Shannon Hyatt (Jason), Billy Joel "B.J." Hatfield (Anna), Dustin Osborne (Beth), Brad Osborne (Amanda), Rachel Osborne and Jana Osborne; great grandchildren: Megan Hayworth Adams (Matt), Zack Hayworth(Brittany), Sadie and Clay Fletcher, Connor Icenhour (Danielle) and Samuel Icenhour, Anne Stewart , Everett and Frances Hatfield, Tyler, Brycen and Mason Gambill, Bud, Rhiannon and Ryleigh Icenhour, Sam, Teddy and John Hyatt, Henry Hatfield and Peyton Osborne; great great grandchildren: Knox Hayworth and Cash Adams (due Sept 12th ); siblings: Elizabeth Icenhour Dunn, Bonnie Icenhour Wilcox, Warren Icenhour and James Icenhour(Villis); special nieces: Shirley Icenhour Potter, Judy and Joyce Icenhour and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August, 28, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastors Steven Spencer, Frank Stanley and Sam Icenhour and special friend Willie DeBord officiating. Special Music will be provided by Ms. Lindsey DeBord and the Calvary Baptist Church Choir. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 from the Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are The Calvary Baptist Church Deacons, Dr. Don Tarr and Terry Thompson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joel's memory may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Awana Club, 1354 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
