James Clay Henson, age 80, of Granite Falls, North Carolina, passed away on August 23, 2017 at the Caldwell Hospice House. He was born on February 3, 1937 to the late Frank and Ida Mann Henson. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jean Henson; son, James Clay Henson Jr. and grandchild, Christopher Guinn. James and his wife Goldie owned and operated their own service station for many years. They met and made many friends during this time. James loved the mountains and enjoyed to fish for carp. He also enjoyed going to flea markets. James was a hard worker, kind, generous and was always willing to help those in need. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 41 years, Goldie Henson; daughter, Kathy Guinn; son, David Lynn Henson; grandchildren: Emily Guinn, David Henson Jr., Shayne Guinn, Jimmy Henson, Ivan Catete, Karina Catete and Ulizes Catete; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Henson Family Cemetery, Flat Springs, NC with Preacher A.J. Potter and Pastor Roy Dowell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.
