Lee Hawkins, age 86, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 7, 1931 to the alto Richard B. Hawkins Sr. and Minnie Felts Hawkins.  In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by sisters, Velma Gentry and Lillian Hawkins and brothers, Newton, Richard, Calvon, Wilton and Willard. Lee was a United States Army Veteran.  He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church where he had taught Adult Sunday School Class and sang in the church choir.  Lee liked to stay busy and enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening and hunting ginseng.  He was also a gifted cabinet maker.  If he wasn’t busy with his hands, Lee was reading.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and truly believed in taking care of your family and neighbors. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 57 years’, Bonnie Forrester Hawkins, children, Pamela Jean Powell and David Lee Hawkins and wife Donna, sisters, Annis Gentry of Laurel Bloomery, TN and Bonnie Icenhour of Mountain City, TN, grandchildren, Matthew Pennington and wife Billie, Heidi and Jon Hockett, great grandchildren, Cody, Josh, Kaydon, Camden, Justin, Jamie Rose and Reagan, several cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.      Graveside service and interment with military honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Acre-Field Cemetery with Pastor Ricky Ray officiating.  Pallbearers will be Eric Wallace, Steve Hawkins, Kenny Icenhour, Terry Thomas, Paul Blevins, Eric Taylor and Randy Thomas.  Honorary pallbearers are Mary Beth Taylor and Men of St. Johns Methodist Church. At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 1920 Gentry Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN. Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com. The family of Lee Hawkins has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
