Dr. Robert ‘Bob’ Addison Bruce Jr.   Dr. Robert ‘Bob’ Addison Bruce Jr., age 70, of Bonita Springs, Florida and formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.  Bob was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 14, 1947 to the late Dr. Robert Addison Bruce Sr. and Mary (Burke) Bruce.  Bob graduated from Oakwood High School in 1965, Wabash College in 1969 and the Medical University of South Carolina in 1973.  He completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Ohio State University and a fellowship in Vitreoretinal diseases, also at the Ohio State University.  Bob was founding partner of Midwest Retina.  He was an exceptional physician who devoted his life to helping those afflicted by complex diseases of the eye.  He had a special way of turning each patient into a friend.  Bob enjoyed traveling the world and outdoors and loved to play golf, hunt and spend time in the sun with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Toni, daughters, Kristie McCulloch and husband Scott of Durham, NC, Julie Zogbaum and husband Mark of Columbus, OH, stepdaughter, Elizabeth Van Horn of Cape Coral, FL, stepson, Bryan Thacker and wife Angie of Punta Gordo, FL, sister, Anne Sharaway and husband Syd of St. Cloud, FL, nine lucky children who called him ‘Grandpa’, Caroline, Cameron, Lucas, Violet, Baylen, Estella, Jonathan, Bobbie and Anna and many special friends A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at David’s Mausoleum Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering (Dayton), OH.  Minister Ron Lokhorst will officiate. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in Columbus, OH at a later date.
