James Woodard

James Woodard, age 81, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born on August 15, 1936 to the late Fred and Mae Howard Woodard.  In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Osborne, brothers, R.D. Woodard, Norman Woodard, Boyd Woodard, Daniel Fred Woodard, Bobby Woodard, Rosco Woodard and Dewey Woodard. James was a member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and Prayer Room teacher.    James worked in construction for years as a general contractor.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play ball.  He also enjoyed watching westerns and reading his bible every night.  Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 60 years, Loretta Howard Woodard, daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Steve Shaw, grandsons, Devin Shaw and Tyler Shaw, all of Mountain City, TN, sisters, Alice Jones and husband Mike of Rockville, MD, Sue Lipford of Potomac, MD and Shirley Campbell and husband Lynn of Mountain City, TN, brother, Frank Woodard and wife Linda  of Kingston, MD, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home.  Funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike McNutt officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow at the Shoun-McEwen Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Steve Shaw, Devin Shaw, Tyler Shaw and Jim Howard, Scotty Campbell.  Honorary pallbearers are Men of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church. At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 172 Jordan Lane, Mountain City, TN Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mountaincityfh.com The family of James Woodard has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S.
