Joe E. Medina, age 89, of Shady Valley, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Friday, May 25, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Clermont Florida. He was born in Kansas City, MO on March 13, 1929 to the late Modesto Medina and Paula Jacinto Medina.  In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a son, Brad Medina, sisters, Mary Gallegos and Francis Sanchez, and brothers, Daniel Medina, Magdaleno Medina and Paul Medina. Joe and Wahnita owned and operated Medina & Company for 10 years in Mountain City, TN. He was a Jeweler by trade for 64 years. Joe was a member and Deacon of Harmon Chapel Christian Church in Shady Valley, TN. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. Joe was a member of the American Legion and also served with the Johnson County Honor Guard for several years.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wahnita Garland Medina; their daughters, Sheri Frier (Bobby) of Clermont, FL and Tonya Rubiano of Carmel, New York, granddaughters, Emily Frier, Danielle Rubiano and Hailey Rubiano, children from his first marriage, Joseph Medina (April); David Medina (Joan); Daniel Medina (Laurie) and Teresa Moore (Alan), sister, Antonia Medina, brothers, Louis Medina, Pat Medina, and Manuel Medina, and beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 o’clock on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at Harmon Chapel Christian Church with the funeral immediately following with Howard Taylor officiating.  Graveside service and burial will be Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 11:00 o’clock with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard at the Gentry Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Shady Valley.  Pallbearers will be Tony Long, Huey Long, Tom Sharpe, Earl Jenkins, Terry Hutchinson and Dennis Honaker.  Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Frier, Selmer Garland, Denny Garland and Ken Tanner. In lieu of flowers, if you wish you may make a donation to Harmon Chapel Christian Church in his memory.  At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 1580 Hwy 133, Shady Valley, TN 37688.
