Claude Johnson, Jr.

   Claude Johnson, Jr., age 86, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018.  He was born on August 27, 1931 to the late Claude Joseph Johnson and Lillian Price Johnson.  In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by sisters, Virgie Johnson Herman, Bonnie Johnson Carroll and Maureen Johnson, brother, Paul Johnson.   Claude retired in 1997 from Appalachian State University. He attended Sutherland Baptist Church.   Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Nell Greer Johnson, daughter, Jewel Johnson of Wilkesboro, NC; sons, Steve Johnson, Jerry Johnson of Mountain City and Terry Johnson of Wilksboro, NC; sisters, Sue Johnson Carroll of Hickory, NC, Mary Johnson Carroll of Conover, NC, Geneva Johnson Woodard of Mountain City, Helen Johnson Rash and Caroline Johnson Rash of Three Top, NC; brothers, Thomas Johnson of Lenoir, NC, Earl W. Johnson of Mountain City, TN, and Jim Johnson of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Scott Johnson, David Johnson, Wesley Dowell, Jerry Dowell, Ashley Johnson and Johnny Miller; several great-grandchildren,  several nieces, nephews and cousins.   A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 from Sutherland Baptist Church (Creston, NC) with Pastor Allan Younce to officiate. Graveside service and burial will follow at the Johnson Cemetery (Fall Branch Road, Mountain City, TN).
