Mr. Howard ‘Kay’ Brown, age 75, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, surrounded by family.  He was born on October 2, 1942 to Ovel Manuel Brown and the late Howard R. Brown.  In addition to his father, Kay was preceded in death by a daughter, Kerissa Cazire and sister, Iva Lee King. Kay worked in the plumbing industry for over 50 years as self-employed and at the Northeast Correctional Complex.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially enjoyed racing.  He would often go to the local short tracks to proudly watch his son and grandson race.  He was a true family man and loved spending time with all of his family and friends and will truly be missed. Kay was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM. Kay was a member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Greeter, always with a smile. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 46 years, Wanda Lunceford Brown, mother, Ovel Manuel Brown, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Randy Arrowood, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Angela Brown, sister and brothers-in-law, Norma and Doug Roark, brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Reba Brown, grandchildren, Savannah Gentry and husband Chip, Kenneth Brown, River Cazire and wife Samantha and Katie Arrowood, great grandchild, Kynlee Gentry, several nieces and nephews, his four-legged companion, Scooter and his church family, who he loved dearly. The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home.  Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors Mike McNutt and Sam Icenhour officiating.  Special music will be provided by the Nelson Chapel Church Choir.  Masonic Rites will follow the funeral.  Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Brown-Dowell Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Kenneth Brown, River Cazire, Johnny Clawson, Jerry Clawson, Royce Lunceford and Chip Gentry.  Honorary pallbearers are the men at Nelson Chapel Church, Home Health Staff and Hospice Nurses and Staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kay’s memory to the Nelson Chapel Baptist Church, PO Box 44, Mountain City, TN 37683 At other times, the family will receive friends at the home 244 Kay Brown Lane, Mountain City, TN .
